The Army Individual Championships and Inter Unit Championships scheduled for June/July 21 have regretfully been CANCELLED. The Annual Dinner scheduled for early July will also be postponed.
The first major event will now be the Inter Corps Championships running 9-11 Nov in Aldershot. The updated activity list can be found here
We continue to push for the opening of military squash courts but the latest ABN on the return to representative squash is clear that no military gymnasia is to be used for sport (this includes squash courts). Army Squash continue to challenge this decision and hope to be permitted to open for solo training soon.
On a positive note, authorisation has been given for the Academy and Army Team training event 27-28 May in Aldershot to go ahead and we have further Army Team training lined up for Jun/July. We are also planning to run L1 and L2 Coach courses in Jun/July. Interested personnel should contact Their Corps Secretary . These will be at nil cost to students.
There is an opportunity in mid-July for our novice and junior players to attend the ASPT Squash Basic Skills course – contact Angela in ASPT for further details Angela.Logan869@mod.gov.uk.
The Wiltshire League is due to recommence in September, and we will also look to field a Development Team in the Yorkshire League when that restarts this Summer.
A new U25 championships and an Intro to Squash for female SP are also being planned in the Autumn. Finally we have a series of Army Selection/Corps training days scheduled from Aug thru Oct which will prepare Corps for the Inter Corps Championships and official start of the 2021/22 competitive season.
I ask for you all to show patience and encourage all to stay fit as we get closer to the line. Get registered on SquashLevels and join in the remote training sessions by zoom with Head Coach Paul Carter on Wednesday afternoon at 1500hrs. These sessions are open to players of all standards, and can be done anywhere.
